The Great Hop Forward is Rick Green’s chronicle of the craft beer revolution in China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Rick is a Vancouver-based writer with a passion for travel, craft beer, and gastronomy. As President of the Vancouver branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, publisher of the B.C. Beer Blog, Executive Director of the Craft Brewers Guild of B.C., and co-founder of the Vancouver Craft Beer Week festival, he played a leading role in helping change British Columbia’s beer culture.
Rick’s beer writing has appeared in Northwest Brewing News, TAPS Magazine, The Georgia Straight, Sixth Tone, What’s Brewing, and Urban Diner. While living in Hong Kong, Rick wrote four multimedia travel guides for InterOptica Publishing and helped publish three other CD-ROM titles for The Black Box. More recently, he has written about his Asian travel experiences for Adventurocity, an online publication focused on independent travel to Asia.
Rick is a member of the North American Guild of Beer Writers, the British Columbia Association of Travel Writers, and the Society of Beer Travelers. His latest book is How to Drink Beer in Mandarin: An English-Chinese Craft Beer Glossary which is available for download as an e-book on Amazon.com and Smashwords for US$4.99.
